Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the Chess Move Chooser ("we," "us," or "our") handles your data when you visit our static website.

Data Collection & Processing

We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All chess position analysis is performed entirely on your device (in your browser) using WebAssembly and Javascript. No chess positions, moves, or personal identifiers are ever sent to a server controlled by us.

Cookies and Local Storage

As a core philosophy, this Website strives to operate without the use of invasive tracking cookies. We utilize the following technologies solely to enhance your user experience:

• Local Storage (Essential): We use your browser's local storage strictly to remember your UI preferences, such as your chosen "Appearance" theme. This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to us. Under global privacy guidelines (such as GDPR and CCPA), this is considered strictly necessary functionality and does not require a consent banner.
• Cloudflare Security & Delivery Cookies (Essential): This Website is served through Cloudflare, our content delivery and security provider. Cloudflare sets a small number of cookies directly, independent of our own code — for example, cf_clearance, which remembers that your browser has already passed a security check so it isn't re-challenged on every request, and cf_ob_info / cf_use_ob, which support Cloudflare's content-delivery reliability features. These cookies are controlled by Cloudflare, not by us, and are classified as strictly necessary for the secure operation of the Website, so they do not require a consent banner under GDPR/ePrivacy or similar frameworks. Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate traffic and page-performance numbers (visit counts, Core Web Vitals, country, browser, and referring site). It does not use cookies or any other persistent client-side storage, does not fingerprint your device, and cannot follow you across visits or across other websites — Cloudflare discards the data needed to identify you individually. Support / Donations

Our Support page embeds a Liberapay donation button and a PayPal donation form so visitors can optionally contribute to hosting and development costs. These are only loaded when you visit that specific page. Liberapay and PayPal are independent services with their own privacy policies; interacting with either embed (for example, clicking through to complete a donation) is subject to their respective privacy practices, not ours, and your browser will make a direct request to their servers to load the button/widget. We do not receive or store any payment or personal information from these transactions.
